Alzheimer's patients and individuals with
dementia are known to wander off or get confused and frighten. This may
make them anxious, causing them to move too quickly and accidentally
fall from a chair or wheelchair.
However, with the Break Away
Lap Cushion with Alarm, caregivers are immediately alerted when the
cushion is moved, keeping the patient safe and secure.
The Break Away Lap Cushion is
equipped with a sensor attached to a magnetic strap used to secure the
cushion to the arm of a chair or wheelchair. The magnetic strap is
released when the patient rise up, breaking the strap's connection and
activating the alarm. In turn, the caregiver or hospital
staff is quickly alerted.
The soft Break Away Lap Cushion has an
easy to clean vinyl covering and sits comfortably on the lap of the patient
when used with a wheelchair or arm chair. The alarm unit feature an on/off
switch, two sound levels (choose from an alarm or chime tone with
either 85 dB or 100 dB) and a low-battery warning light. It uses a
9V battery (included). Six month limited warranty.
