The fully electric model is a totally adjustable bed, controlled via a 6' long wired  pendant which can be clipped on the bedding near the patient to be close at hand.  The fully electric model controls (via the pendant) all adjustments of raising and lowering the bed to suit the patient or the Caregiver.  The advantages of the fully electric include:

• Easier for the Caregiver to bend or lean over the patient to attend to the patient's needs.
• Easier for the patient to get into and out of the bed because the bed can easily be  placed at a comfortable "sit down" or "rise up" height.
• Easier to change bed linens and other tasks which require bending over the bed.
• Easier to bathe, dress and groom the patient at a height comfortable for the Caregiver.

The semi-electric model is slightly less expensive and has pendant controlled adjustments to raise and lower the head and foot of the bed.  The vertical raising and lowering of the bed is only accomplished with the hand crank located at the foot of the bed.  For this reason, this model is not as popular with Caregivers as it takes additional effort to crank the bed into position each and every time the Caregiver attends to a different task related to patient care.

Besides the obvious benefit of reducing strain on the Caregiver's back, the most important difference in the use of the fully electric, over the semi-electric, is the ease of lowering the bed to a height that is safe and secure for the patient to be able to move from a sitting position to standing or to be moved into a chair or wheelchair.  And, also the reverse, of a comfortable height for the patient to sit when getting into bed.  The bed can then be raised in seconds to a comfortable height for the Caregiver.  Please note:  The fully electric bed does come equipped with a manual crank as well for power outage emergencies. 

Both beds are designed for easy clean-up and maintenance!

These Home Health Care Beds are fully adjustable and similar to ones used in a hospital and other healthcare settings. The multiple bed settings prove to greatly increase the quality of the care for the patient and especially remove strain for the Caregiver.

The Home Health Care Bed can be placed anywhere and can be moved very easily within the home for maximum patient comfort and Caregiver ease. You just simply flip up the lock on the wheels and push the bed. The electrical cord is about five feet long and plugs into any three prong electrical outlet.

Both the Fully-Electric 5410 and the Semi-Electric 5310 beds come with the Care-Guard™ 101 Home Care Mattress. It is a 5" thick layered foam mattress which provides maximum pressure reduction and durability. It has five zones the allow the patient's body weight to be absorbed proportionally. The mattress is reversible from head to foot, with contour cuts to reduce shear. It is covered with a antimicrobial, waterproof cover which reduces friction and protects the mattress. Most importantly, the Care-Guard™ 101 Home Care Mattress is engineered to last a long time while providing the utmost in comfort and support for the user. The mattress measures 80"L x 5"H x 35"W. 
 

Please Note:  This is not the inexpensive mattress found on most websites which comes as a "package deal" with home health care beds.  This is a high quality, longer lasting and more comfortable mattress.
