Now, millions of people who are visually impaired can enjoy the benefits of Cocoons® Fit-Over Sunglasses! A new collection of Low Vision Cocoons® with contrast enhancing filters have been specifically designed for individuals with visual impairments commonly associated with conditions such as Cataracts, Glaucoma, Uveitis, Macular Degeneration, Corneal Opacity, Trachoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Myopia Magna, Stargardt's disease, Albinism and Retinitis Pigmentosa.

 

These Low Vision Cocoons® are available with four, scratch-resistant, non-polarized lens tints recommended by optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians. These lens tints are made to absorb specific amounts of light and block 100 percent of the harmful UVA&B rays. The black only frame features Flex2Fit® temples which allow users to manually adjust the ear pieces for maximum comfort and security. The lens tints, made with UV400 Polaré lenses, come in four special shades; Boysenberry (plum), Lemon (yellow), Hazelnut (amber) and Orange.

 

Cocoons Low Vision Lens Tint Selection
The Hazelnut (amber) lens reduces glare and enhances contrast when indoors or outdoors. It offers 18% light transmission and blocks 98% of blue light and all visible light up to 410 nm. Highly recommended for use by individuals with visually impaired conditions such as Retinitis Pigmentosa, Diabetic Retinopathy, pre-Cataract and Glaucoma.
 

The Orange lens intensifies backgrounds to improve the object's definition and clarity. It provides 34% light transmissions and blocks 100% of blue light and all visible light up to 520 nm. It enhances contrast, provides protection from glare and helps individuals with Macular Degeneration.
 
For moderate blue light filtering, the Lemon (yellow) lens, offers 82% light transmission and all visible light up to 470 nm. This tint is best used in low light conditions to improve visual acuity and should not be used outdoors unless ordered by a Low Vision specialist. The Lemon (yellow) lens is designed to increase contrast indoors only.
 
Boysenberry (plum) lenses are ideal for reading and watching television. This lens tint offers 15% light transmission and blocks all visible light up to 410 nm. Great for both indoor or outdoor use.
